the location depends upon if it is a 2.3 or 3.1. looks like the 2.3 is under the plastic cover on the top of the engine. the 3.1 is in a difficult place on the firewall side of the motor. i agree with the 1st respondent about looking for other possible problems. it could be a cam or crank sensor or ecm/pcm. it could be a fuel pump. you may spend a few more bucks at a shop to have it fixed. but if you spend $300.00 on a new module and that isn't it, how much did you save?

Don't automatically assume that the module has failed. It can cost you a bit of money, and still not be repaired.
First stop, check the PCM for the diagnostic trouble codes.
For a description of that procedure, go here------>

Scroll past the DTC descriptions and follow the directions.
When you have all of the codes stored, write them down, and secure a repair manual from the parts house, book store, or the library.
Follow the diagnostic trouble tree. Do not assume that the trouble code relates to the specific component. If you get a code 33 relating to a MAP sensor, do not merely replace the MAP sensor. Your problem could be a broken vacuum line, a poor connection for the MAP, or, something completely unrelated, a stuck open EGR valve.
Follow the diagnostic flow chart, and test the system and circuit, THEN repair or replace as required.

Good Luck
