I think that people who do not enjoy shopping at Wal-Mart do not like the crowds because the store is always jam pack. For example, in the city I live in, the Wal-Mart is a MADHOUSE. The parking lot is filled to capacity and you always see people going in but you never see people coming out. I think that some people just shop there so they can save a quarter when they can purchase the same item for a quarter more.
As for me, I am not too fond of Wal-Mart. I prefer shopping at Target because the store is clean, helpful associates, organized store, clean bathrooms and the cashiers are on their feet and check you out quickly. At Wal-Mart, the store is not that clean and/or organized, the cashiers are slow, restrooms are not often clean and finding an associate for help is complicated. Also, let’s say I need to purchase cereal. I would prefer to purchase a box a cereal (let say Frosted Flakes) at a local grocery store (lets say Publix) for $3.39 and be in and out than fighting with crowds at Wal-Mart for that same box for $2.25.

We shop at walmart because we have no choice anymore. I live in North West Arkansas where the main wal mart offices are. They have ran out all the kmarts and not much else can get a good foot hold in this area. They bought out most of the food stores as well. I do buy from anyone else as long as i can find it some where else and they are not trying to take me. But If walmart is all you have what do you do? Without?

Most likely because they have cheaper prices than most other stores. For myself , I try to shop where I get the most bang for my buck. And I am one that has had his business affected by Wal-mart! If you are careful, you can by better quality stuff on sale at Penneys or Sears which I like much better!! BTW - shopping at Target - Sears - Penneys - K-mart (UGH!) etc. V/S Walmart does NOTHING for the small business owner!! I happen to think Sears and Penneys do less to harm small business than Walmart - Target - K-mart etc. but thats just my opinion.

The mighty dollar.
Why support a small business and spend 1 dollar on something when you can go to Walmart, spend a dollar and get 10 of those somethings.
I hate Walmart. Every Walmart I've been in is dirty and nasty. I refuse to shop there.

The whole field of economics is based on the fact that people are reasonable and will always want the most utility (satisfaction) for the least money.
It's that simple....and it's such a predictable (and verifiable) phenomenon that its one of the underlying assumptions of economics
