Bone structure is directly related to their function. Since man is a bipedal animal, the lower bones must support the weight of the entire body. The femur, tibia, fibula, etc. are larger and thicker than their counterparts in the arm (humerus, radius, and ulna). The Pelvis supports the internal organs in a much different way than in a four legged animal. So the basket has to not only support the organs but the attach to the legs as well.

I'm guessing the 'h' is for humans--I'll help you this time, but do your own homework next time.

Humans have big brains, right? So we've gotta have big skulls to carry our brains around in. Well, if we gals had tiny pelvises, the baby and ourselves would die in childbirth. Kittens and pigs have smaller heads to body ratios. Therefore, they have smaller pelvises because their species has smaller brains.
