The wonderfully talented Stewart Adamson has sadly died. He was one of my teenage icons.

By some spooky coincidence, I have just been listening to "Just a Shadow" from the brilliant album "Steeltown" in the car tonight. Must admit it still sounds as good today as it did 20yrs ago. They were a very underestimated in the 80's I think they lived in the shadow of Simple Minds. Also there was so much talent back then, it was harder to make a name for yourself.

I'm waiting for the BIG, Big Country comeback tour, sadly without Stewart, mind you, that's like the "Stones" without Jagger.
Yeah....R.I.P Stewart.

After the break up of the Skids Stuart Adamson formed Big Country they were initially successful with hits such as Big Country,Wonderland and Chance. As music tastes change this style of music became less popular and they broke up.Adamson bought a pub, a bad choice for an alchoholic and after suffering from depression for many years decided to take his own life by hanging.

I was a fan for a few years, until they seemed to drift away (or became unpopular). They definitely had a unique sound. I loved the whole "guitar-bagpipes" sound, though I'm sure it was not to everyone's taste. I bought the debut album and Steeltown. I LOVED "Look Away"! And the video. I loved Stewart Adamson's voice. It was so tragic his death.

Big Country yeah, they were OK, the drummer`s mum lived next door to my sister...the wonderful Bill Nelson produced the first single and made the guitars sound like bagpipes.

Suej ! That was Bow Wow Wow..

Yeah, I remember them. The only song I can remember is "In a Big Country", though. It was a cool video.

Great band, anyone who can manage to put bagpipes in a rock is cool by me.
