Am I a total freak who needs counselling for my bee-phobia? Or is it pretty normal to be afraid of bees? I have nightmares at least once a week about bees.

Its completely normal until........................they become desperate and seek a place to hide before the winter settles in......that's when they enter your home thru a cracked window or under a door and make there way to the warmest area of the house.your bedroom where you are fast asleep. They go in any opening that can provide them security such as your ears, nose and mouth. Eventually you stop breathing because the bite they give you in your air passages will eventually suffocate you. But dont worry you won't feel it you'll be fast asleep. Buzzzzzzzzzzz Buzzzzzzzzz
You might want to stay awake for the next several weeks.
LMAO

it is quite normal to have a fear of bees its common. Melissaphobia is the fear of bees. It is also known as apiphobia. The phobia can be developed at any age from infancy to senior citizenship. People of any race can acquire melissaphobia, even people who generally spend most of their time in Hawaii or Antarctica, some of the few places where bees do not occur. Some people fear their sting, while others fear bees in general. The fear can be gained through relatives or personal experience. It can be overcome through emotional freedom technique or EFT for short. If not careful, the melissaphobia could spread to ones descendants, causing a hereditary nightmare. People with melissaphobia generally hate flowers, gardens, and prefer to hang out in urban areas where bees are virtually nonexistent.

yeah, apiphobia.

Apiphobia: Fear of bees.

A phobia is an unreasonable sort of fear that can cause avoidance and panic. Phobias are a relatively common type of anxiety disorder. Phobias can be treated with cognitive behavioral therapy using exposure and fear reduction techniques. In many cases, anti-anxiety or anti-depressant medication proves helpful, especially during the early stages of therapy.

The word "apiphobia" comes from "api-" from the Greek "apis" meaning bee + "phobia" from the Greek "phobos" meaning fear = literally, fear (of) bee(s). Apiphobia is also called melissophobia, since "melissa" is another Greek word for bee.

If you've never been stung by one of those little sweethearts you may have cause for concern.Because
If you happen to be one of many who are allergic to their
venom and you do get stung you could go into anaphylactic (sp?) shock.
If you are in doubt you had better keep an Epipen (sp?)handy - just in case...It could save your life.
Oh, when you go to the pharmacy to get info re; epipens ask how to spell anaphylactic - my dictionary doesn't list anything like it. Good luck
