There is no cure for any type of Irriatable bowel disorder. With it is irritable bowel syndrome (least serious), ulceritive colitis(moderately serious), or crohns disease (most serious form). A change in diet will help, and the meds will too.
I want to add in light of a below poster's remarks, clear ANY diet with your doc. Fiber is good for IBS but NOT colitis or chrons. I haven't been able to eat any sort of fiber for years, with out ending up in the hospital

I find it very embarrassing because of the loud gurgles emitted by my tum, and have to be very careful indeed what I eat. Unfortunately I am also diabetic, with inherited high cholesterol, so what do I do when "they" say I should eat lots of fresh fruit an veg??? How can I, when it passes straight through me?? I eat Allbran and Ryvita, as bread causes bloating, but I need something else to eat, too? I cant make a date, because of the gurgling and other problems, cant go out for a meal because theres never anything I can eat (dont say salad, as it stays with me about 10 minutes.......) How do other people do this? I do eat biolive yogurt, and Actimel, both of which help, but the GP is useless- he tells me to take plenty of brisk exercise- I am on crutches, and some days cannot walk at all!! Life gets tedious, dont it!!!

Try Digestive Advantage . It is a once daily Irritable Bowel Syndrome Medical Food, It is available at any drug store, in the aisle with the Maalox. It is rather expensive, about $12/month's supply, but the chewable tablets are definitely worth it.

Just meds and diet. Low sugar. No refined foods. Plenty of fiber and fluids. No alcohol or recreational drugs. No cure yet , but the medical community has come out with some good meds the past few years.

One must consider, the entire digestive tract is under the control of the vegus nerve. Should there be any interference with that nerve, it indicates an imbalance of the autonomic nervous system.. If this is the situation you are undergoing, there are other symptoms which you did not mention.. to indicate a problem as high as the cranial nerves. The vegus being only one of twelve.

I do feel for you because I to suffer from IBS so know how painful it is.. What I find eases my symptoms is a high fibre diet and watching what I eat, avoid fatty foods particularly! Also as I'm sure you know IBS is a stress related illness so try and lessen stress in your life - easier said than done I know believe me - I have three teenage children and to say they stress me out at times is an understatement.. lol..

Does it mean constipation or diarrhoea? Constipation cure is lots of water and fibre like bran flakes, fruit and fibre, wholemeal bread etc. Diarrhoea can be cured with limited water and citrus fruits.everything depends on your diet and the suitability of your body with your diet.
