Zelda is the type of game that involves item hunting, and puzzle solving in an action packed environment.
I do not consider it a RPG, so most like that I will reject.
So far the only game on most platforms like Zelda I can think of is Tomb Raider. The games must contain:
Item hunting, un cluding both new, and upgraded items
Puzzle solving
Dialog or story to follow through on
Other intangiables I can't think of or describe right now.

Yeah, you play as link, but then again in a Mario game you play as Mario, so if that's your idea of an RPG, you need to look it up on wikipedia.
Role playing games involve leveling up, and expierience, expressed in numbers. Except for Zelda 2, the Zelda serie IS NOT an RPG.

Most people consider Beyond Good & Evil to be very Zelda-like. It was a very good game, but it suffered by being released at the same time as a bunch of other very good games (Prince of Persia, Halo 2, Splinter Cell 2, etc). If you can find a copy, you should pick it up. It's available on Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, and PC. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/561647.asp?q=beyond%20good%20%20evil
I'd also recommend Psyconauts, an action-adventure game that is a little heavier on the action (like Tomb Raider), but with quirky humor from the guy behind a lot of the old LucasArts adventure games (Monkey Island, specifically). It's available on Xbox, PS2, and PC, but may be hard to find since it didn't sell very well. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/561517.asp?q=psyconauts
Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy is an interesting action-adventure game where you switch between the roles of Sphinx (a sword-wielding godling) and a mummy (mutilate your body to solve puzzles) in an Egyptian-themed adventure. Available on Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/918824.asp?q=sphinx
Finally, the new Prince of Persia series is another great action-adventure game (I enjoyed the first one the most). Available on Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, and PC, as well as versions for the various handhelds. http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/589719.asp?q=prince%20of%20persia
There are plenty of other action-adventure games out there, but these should keep you busy for a fair amount of time.

yes, your opinions do seem logical fellow gamer, but however if you ask me, zelda fans (including myself) shall always have a preference for zelda games. but many of us claim that there will be no game just like zelda. the gameplay addicting, the story compelling, action far greater then Mario, or Kirby. And when The legend of zelda the Twilight Princess comes out on the Wii and gamecube, we the fans of zelda shalt find salvation in the more older gamer action. (not like 17 year old action but more like 14 year old action, no blood and stuff like that, zelda is made for almost everyone to enjoy)

And the question is???
The answer, anyway, is that you are a fool!
RPG means role-playing game. You play the game as Link, through his life. How can you even suggest that Zelda is not an RPG???
GRRRRR!!!!

for in user-friendly terms one playthrough? Or consisting of numerous playthroughs? i might say that Xenogears (coming in at around 70 hours) fed on an incredible type of my time for in user-friendly terms one playthrough. yet then there are video games like Parasite Eve and Golden solar. those video games are not the longest interior the worldwide, yet i like them lots that i've got performed via each of them many situations. Parasite Eve on my own i might say that i've got performed via approximately 10 situations (and at approximately 3-6 hours a playthrough...).
