Nomar is a guy who is very superstitious and has a set routine that he must always follow. He says that he has a lucky shirt that he must wear for every game so that must be it. His superstitious nature and need to follow routine is also the reason why he does that little rain dance of his before every pitch.

I have been wondering the same thing for a long time. It might be some sort of tribute to Boston because that was the first mlb team he ever played for.
