Yes, i think it should be legalized.

The people I have known over the years (many years) have never committed a crime in the pursuit of obtaining cannabis. Whether that is stealing from parents, robbing store, mugging, etc. (The people who smuggle incredible amounts, they are a different story-just let us grow our own) It is usually the harder drugs, crack, heroin that lead to crimes. (again, this is MY experience) I have known homeless, students, artists, professionals, doctors, the list can go on and on listing the broad spectrum of people who use it responsibly. I don't know any one who is addicted to it. Another falsehood spread by anti-drug fanatics.

With it being illegal, it is sucking up and wasting valuable time and money that could be better spent in our legal system in the US. Or with the money spent, we could have probably had some basic form of universal health care. How many respectable lives has an arrest for this valuable plant given to us by God ruined? It is an asinine law meant to protect ourselves from ourselves. Make it legal and tax it, just like cigarettes. Except if you do need it medicinally. Then it should at least be tax free.

Comparing it to alcohol, I would SO MUCH rather have people smoking weed than drinking. How many husbands abuse their wives when under the influence of alcohol? How many people commit crimes while under the influence of alcohol. How many people kill others while under the influence of alcohol? Drinking and driving? Alcohol=Violence and death in one form or another (but not all the time, I know, I like to drink too). When you smoke weed you get a euphoric feeling. You don't want to fight. You mellow out [I used to smoke it to help me fall asleep (and chronic back pain, but that should be listed below)]. and "love" everyone. And who feels like driving after you've eaten a large, double pepperoni pizza and drank a 2 liter of Coke all by yourself?!? Little try at humor. That's a lot of pizza for a 5' girl. Yes there are going to be people who say those who smoke get busted for DUI. But do you read on to see what else they were doing?-drinking alcohol...

Look at how alcohol corrupts the body. Cirrhosis of the liver, death from alcohol poisoning, weakens the heart, digestive problems, on and on. Do you actually know of anyone who has "smoked" themselves to death? LOL! Cannabis is actually being researched for its medical benefits. It helps cancer, AIDS, terminal patients with their pain, nausea, and other symptoms they deal with on a daily basis. Anti-drug nerds say that smoking it is much worse than cigarettes. That statement is wrong. There was a research paper a few months ago (can't remember if it was in Journal of the American Medical Association or other) that pretty much said yes there are carcinogens but there is something in marijuana that basically cancels it out, thereby not being cancer causing. If anyone in my family has a terminal, debilitating ailment, you can bet I am going to procure some cannabis for them legal or not. The nice lime green, super sticky kind. I won't let them buy the pharmacological fake, filtered pill kind. I love them too much.

I could keep writing about this subject, but I think I'll just go spark one up. No, really I haven't smoked in about 6-7 years now, but if someone stopped by with a nice fatty.......

So LEGALIZE MARIJUANA!! and X. X is good too.

Some day our dreams will be realized when those in office will wise up and grow up.

Let's legalize it, regulate it, and tax the snot out of it!

If we bog pot down with enough government buerocracy, nobody will ever smoke it again!

Seriously though, pot is dangerous to your health, but not much more dangerous than alcohol. I don't see why one is legal and the other isn't.

Yes.. For several reasons.
It has been proved that it helps with pain in cancer patients. The court systems are tied up in litigation over the smallest amounts of a substance that grows in the wild with no help that we don't have room in our prisons for real criminals. Tax it. Get our country out of dept. Let the farmers in the mid-west who can't sell their fruits and veggies grow it and get themselves out of dept.
For those who think pot kills. You find me one case where the substance in someones blood that caused them to kill someone in was pot than I will be inclined to change my min. There are worse drugs out there killing our kids.
