youre right. pro-choice should have the same right of assembly. and i am a pro-life christian. stealing anyone's right to free speech and assembly is setting a bad precedent. i may not agree with pro-choice, but i believe in our equal right to disagree, as provided by the constitution of the united states. you tell 'em!

You're absolutely right that, if one side can be heard, so can the other. In most colleges there's basically some sort of rule saying that they can't not allow a group to demonstrate without cause. Since they're allowing one side of this debate to have a voice, there's no reason they shouldn't allow the other side a voice. If you are a pro-choice person and want to try and change the policy regarding this, I'd recommend either discussing it with a poly-sci/government professor or contacting someone in student government (since student goverment never has much to do anyways).

talk to the college board of regents or research who owns the college. find out if historically they have a position on the issue. I myself wondered why (when I was in college a long, long time ago) there was a "black student union" and no "white student union." In my opinion it's the same kind of thing, promote one and not another, seemed unfair to the white students. I asked and was told that a chinese or korean student union would be ok but not a white student union. They felt that Black students were promoting themselves in positive ways, observing holidays and encouraging the study of history, and culture, but that a White student union would be a racist institution. Go figure.
Maybe it's just a timing issue, the school agreed to have the pro-life side on campus on one day but the pro-death will have to wait their turn, on another day. ?

my only though is that maybe Pro-Choice has already had its say and has been heard because it is the law of the land... Pro-Life doesn't have that legal platform to stand on.
Either way - these people should not be rude when they share their view point. They should be respectful of others views. And yes, I'm pro-life too. But I wouldn't shove it down someones throat cuz I know people are going to do what ever they want to do - no matter what anyone says.

First of all, I don't believe that there is any public university in the US that is so conservative. You are more likely to find just the opposite! However, the university is supposed to be a place where ideas can be discussed. Why is it so common that universities today squelch free speech?

have you tried to set up a demonstration? you don't talk about how you know it's forbidden... it shouldn't be and I find it very odd that it is...
perhaps you just talked to the wrong person about it and they gave you false information?
as long as you go through the correct channels, it should be fine?

If it is a public university -- you MUST be mistaken.
Unless, of course if it is in one of our backwards states -- you know which ones I mean.
In THAT case -- transfer ASAP.
