Ask for a hand on the work you are doing, or ask to loan a pencil. Forget to give it back until you leave class and then when you do start a conversation and ask him to do something on the weekend.

I agree with auburn(first answer) thats what this girl in my second period class(last year) did with me, it worked cause we have been going out since then, she asked me to help her on some work, i could tell she didnt need help on the work cause she ha the second highest grade in the class and it was an easy assignment, but I didnt care. You should ask him for 'help' on some work, then just conversate.

Well, if i had the guts i would give him a big kiss when i come in to class or leaving class( whatever time you perfer).

after the class , just invite him for a snack, just be yourself,, it is better that you have express yourself

i would write him a letter and put it in his desk after school so then in the morning he will see it
