Make sure the batteries are fresh. Don't put anything right in front of the entertainment center that may block the remote sensor. If it has a lot of higher functions, keep the manual near by until you are comfortable in all of its applications. I find that from my easy chair I get a perfect connection and response to commands by holding my arm up to mid-chest level and a 6 degree angle downward. Your perfect angle may vary due to personal height difference and furnishings.
