Plan your time. Set aside blocks of time to do homework, spend time with your friends, spend time with your family, etc. Don't allow your phone or whatever to interrupt you. Also set aside the time weekly to check how your plan is working and change it for the next week. Read the book "First Things First" by Covey, Merrill, and Merrill, it really helped me.

Hi,
I think the first thing you should do is monitor where your time is going now! For a couple of weeks don't change anything that you are doing but take note of where your time is going. Update frequently so you don't forget where your time was spent.

At the end of two weeks you will now have a good idea where most your time is being spent. Now, make a list of your priorities in terms of what must be done etc during your school activities.

How much of your time are you actually spending on those priorities? You will probably notice that much more time than is necessary is being spent on things that are nothing to do with school activities. It is your goal to cut out the time wasters and devote the saved time to more productive activity. Until you are really aware of where your time is being spent you can't really do a lot about it.

For one student, sleeping in bed all day may be a good thing if his goal is to get well :) For another, it could be a disaster if his goal is to pass his exams!

Good luck with your schooling.

Well... it's one thing to have ways to manage your time. It's another to have the discipline to stick with it. I've found that an extremely helpful way to manage time after school is to get right into doing and finishing your homework. That should always be the first thing you do -- it's about making priorities and sticking with them...but again, that also has a lot to do with your ability to stay disciplined and do it.
