Every year between the end of November and the end of December, Jewish people around the world celebrate the holiday of Chanukah, the Festival of Lights. Chanukah begins on the 25th day of the Hebrew month of Kislev, but the starting date on the western calendar varies from year to year. The holiday celebrates the events which took place over 2,300 years ago in the land of Judea, which is now Israel

Its a Jewish holiday celebrations of lights
Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights or Festival of Dedication, is an eight day Jewish holiday that starts on the 25th day of Kislev, which may be in December, late November, or, while very rare in occasion, early January (as was the case for the Hannukkah of 2005–2006). The festival is observed in Jewish homes by the kindling of lights on each of the festival's eight nights, one on the first night, two on the second night and so on.
In Hebrew script, the word Hanukkah is written חנכה, ḥănukkāh, or חנוכה, ḥănūkkāh. It is most commonly transliterated to English as Hanukkah or Chanukah.

It is a Jewish holiday, the Festival of Lights. It occurs in December, sometimes as early as late November! The date changes every year.
Although the Jewish people give gifts on this holiday it is not as big as other holidays such as Passover. It only became a gift giving holiday because it is around Christmas.

Chanukah is just another way to spell Hannuka. Hannuka is a Jewish holiday, where they light a menorah each day. Its around Christmastime. I'm sure you've heard of it.

It's nothing to do with anything Spanish. It is a major Jewish holiday. 8 days, usually around christmas, that celebrates family and is accopanied by gift giving. It's to celebrate the Jewish temple that had only enough oil to last them one night but they prayed and it lasted 8 days by the grace of God.

i am Jewish and it's Jewish holiday. it's where we celebrate the day when the telple in jerusalem was destroyed by the romans and all that was left was a little lamp oil, but the oil lasted for 8 days and nights. so that is why channukah lasts for 8 days and nights and that's what it is. these ppl can't be more wrong than they already are.
