Right now we are thinking about moving out west to Edmonton Alberta Canada from Ontario (approx. 2 days driving). It seems scary now, I know that it would be for the best even if we just go out for a few years and come back, probably a great experience. I am just nervous about it I guess. I have never travelled or been anywhere before so that could be why I have so much anxiety.

I was wondering if the rest of you could share your experiences about moving far away from home, and what it was like? And what would you do? By the way we are thinking about moving out there for the work and my hubby's dad lives out there.

What a wonderful opportunity you have been handed to broaden your horizons! Time to spread your wings and find out how other places suit you. I once moved halfway across the country for the verbal assurance of a job. The job sucked, but I stayed in the new place.

I moved from Florida to Arizona 14 years ago, but it was only supposed to be for 1 year. My husband's family is here, and they are wonderful, but I miss my own family and don't get to see them much. I know we will be here at least another 4 years, then we will probably move back East, but it seems like forever.

Just be sure you keep in touch with family and friends (much easier now, thanks to the internet) and always have a little aside in case you just HAVE to go home for a visit. Then you won't feel so torn away.

I moved from Florida to California by Greyhound because I needed a change. It was scary but after about a week and a few good friends... I felt great!!
