In a wrestling match, is the outcome and the moves made in a wrestling match fixed before they actually fight in the ring infront of all the people? And is it rehearsed?

Great Question!

Almost all matches in wrestling are planned to some extent.

There are generally two types of moves: high impact, which take both wrestlers working together to make the move come off- A flying head sizzer take down, a hip toss, a power bodyslam and there are punches kicks and holds which can be applied and simply reacted too.

Planned moves- The kind of moves that are made almost always take both wrestlers to make the moves work. If you watch carefully you can see wrestlers jump into a hip toss or body slam. It’s rare that you can toss someone into the ropes and then as he comes off just lift him into a power slam or hip toss on your own, the other wrestler has to know what is coming and get into position and then aid the lift or throw by jumping into it.

Reacted to moves- Punches and kicks and takedown moves working on bodyparts generally are reacted to by the wrestler receiving the blows so those can be decided by the person on offence and can be spontaneous. You grab someone’s arm and twist it around, the other guy knows to act like his arm is hurting. You kick the wrestler in his abs and he knows to double over and grab his stomach.

A typical match chorography might look like this: Jason (good guy) and David (Bad guy)

An opening event - The two face off someone pushes someone the other slaps him and a brawl begins. After a few seconds of fists, the opening moves start.

Opening Series- (Planned) David takes the worst of the brawl and is a little dazed and is whipped into the ropes but he flys off the ropes into a cross body taking Jason down. (unplanned and spontaneous) He then jumps up and starts to stomp on Jason. Then drops to his knees and chokes Jason until the reff makes him break. He then drags Jason to the corner and drives his head into the turn buckle and then hammers on Jason as he hangs in the corner.

Second Series-(Planned) David sits Jason on the top turnbuckle for a big move, but Jason grabs David’s head, jumps off and lands a wicked flying ddt. He goes for a pin but Jason kicks out. (Unplanned) Jason locks an armbar on David. (These kinds of holds allow both wrestlers to rest up for the next series of holds and think about the order they will come). After 30 seconds, David gets to his feet still in the arm bar and backs Jason into a corner and as the good guy breaks, pounds on him some more. He then chokes Jason over the top rope and then sends some boots to his abs.

Finishing Series (Planned) David whips Jason across the ring to the far corner and then charges in at him. Jason moves and David hits the turn buckle hard. Jason then grabs a dazed David, runs him out of the corner and lands his finisher move the bull dog on him and wins the match.

You may even see matches were wrestlers use a template and just change a few things. This is why some matches with the same wrestler look very very similar even if they are with a different opponent.

You can see whole wrestling matches put out in order photo by photo at my wrestling group:

Hope this helps.

Sweetie it's a storyline so yeah the outcome is already planned out before the match even happens.

yes and no.....the wrestlers have a variety of moves that they perform every match....they talk to each other in the ring and give each other a "head up' on which move is coming next....the outcome is always pre-determined before the match....sometimes even weeks prior to an event....
