Their ideas are scum, they are misdirected people by selfish leadership that will take lives for power and control over other people's lives. To give them Freedom will give them hope. The "scum" of the earth can still grow life.

The scum of the earth is those who force their way of life on others who dont want it.
God I wish you assholes would get a new line. This liberals are terrorists is getting tired and pathetic.Liberals seek to protect the rights of all citizens. Why cant you see how they slowly try to take them away for the good of the nation, for the security of the nation? Why cant you see they use terrorism to whip you into line? They use it to control you. They use it to make you afraid. They use it to make you stop questioning things. Well for Gods sake man take a stand against this nonsense and make your forefathers proud.Take pride in what your country stands for and what it could be. We are supposed to be the greatest nation, yet we stoop to the very levels of the terrorists. Our founding fathers would be appalled at what our country has become.Slowly piece by piece people who think like this are dismantling our constitution and the freedoms you claim to love so dearly.

It's not so much the protection of rights. It's the provision of rights to a group of men (predominantly) who have no basis for such rights. They are not citizens, mostly, and are not legal aliens, usually, and so what rights must be conferred upon these men?
Most are treated in dignified manner, some who possess information that can affect the lives of thousands or millions are forced to reveal this information in violent ways. Yes the violent methods employed to extract the information from one man is likely inhumane. What of the manner by which 3000 people died on 9/11? Was that a humane way to execute prisoners or hostages? Quid pro quo is not a sufficient argument in jurisprudence, but we are talking about treating these combatants with more respect and rights than they conveyed to those they murdered. These combatants are being held because more than likely they have information that can help thwart their comrades in arms, and extracting this information, not ensuring they're rights, is paramount.
We should be humane enough to extend decent treatment of humans incarcerated by our system (civil and military) but not undermine our ability to be a viable and vibrant nation by enabling these suspects to withhold information or to avail themselves of prisoner's rights that they are not entitled to. These men aimed to kill Americans, and as such, they are combatants who should face military justice at the minimum, but not be considered mere criminals, for they seek to end the future of our nation permanently.

Actually, it's the rights of people who are accused of being terrorists, that people are worried about. It's one of those American Values, that we don't punish people unless we can prove that they actually committed a crime. And there are plenty of conservatives who don't like Bush's insistance on using secret prisons, abandoning the Geneva Conventions, and making the Executive Branch the sole arbiter of the 4th Amendment.
That's one of the things that separates us from terrorists - we don't just kill everybody we deem belongs to the other side. At least that's the idea...

The only U.S. terrorist are Conservatives. The 911 hijackers were extreme Conservatives, and Timothy McVeigh was a registered republicans and the British that burned the capital down were extreme religious Conservatives. We cannot give absolute power to the government so you can feel safe.

I think they are still above child molesters, but below mass murderers like Hitler, or Stalin.
Or the liberal judges that let child molesters go.
