I dont think that its is bad, but for some people they just dont deseve it.
I know a 19 year old girl who refuses to work becase she says that her mother does not want to work. If she works than her welfare check will be cut. Plus her mom wants her to stay in high school as long as possible and "take her time" so that she can get money. So practically everyone is lazy in living in luxury. She has Cable tv with all the premimum channels(imagine how expensive), all the latest video game systems, and super fast cable on her computer. Of course im jealous, becase in a way eventhough i am not poor, i still cant afford any of those things. While i working hard and going to school , all she does is play on her entertainment system. I just hope she dont get welfare forever.

I hope her mom's goal is to get her to finish school and maybe go to college and work for the next 50 years. Sometimes, the welfare "families" have a custom of living and do not know that they can live without the system. Hopefully, someone, along the family line can break this chain.

I think you should take pride in earning an honest living and going to school to better yourself. You can hold your head high and say you you faced life on your own terms and succeeded. The people you refer to can never claim that.

I am not against welfare, per se. However, the government does need to improve on the "welfare to work" type programs. If the beneficiaries are physically and mentally able to work and opportunities are found/created by the employment commission, they have no excuse to continue welfare indefinitely. Even it means the government paying for their training for a job or giving them pay to do community work which has a shortage of volunteers.

i know the feeling, i'm a mother with a 2yr.old kid and the government thinks i make too much money to get medicade. and i have a hard time to squeeze a penny and make it into a dollar. i'm not poor or anything but i wish i was making a lot of money like they thinnk i am. some people are lazy and like to cheat the system, i just wish all this b.s. the wellfare system says about them giving this to the ones who really need it was true. not to the ones driving in a BMW or JAG.

I think there should be a cap on it--they should only be able to collect in certain circumstances and for a minimum amount of time---yes I do believe that it is taught==I knew a foreign person that had moved to the US and got his status=he drank beer so much and got sclerosis of the liver--doc said stop and you will be fine--I asked are you moving back home and his reply "No, you can't get disablility in Puerto Rico"--it is sad we pay so much money to other countries and now our jobs are being outsourced and some people sit and just collect for no reason just are lazy

It's a shame that the welfare system is so abused. There are far too many people on it who should be working, and far too many people who have a serious NEED for it that can't get help. It's a mess. Many people just keep having babies so they don't have to get out and work.

You are right, she doesnt deserve welfare. And if welfare finds out that her mom told her to "take her time" then they can cut it. And dont be jelous of what other people have because what they are doing is wrong and eventually they will lose it all.

I have to agree with you. Her mom shouldn't have taught her that the goverment will pay for them to live life the way workin folks can't. As far as school...she needs to graduate ON TIME and go to college, get a degree in something and work for her family.

Congrats, you just matured. That's how most people feel when they work hard, and still others gain from sloth. Unfortunately, all that stuff about life being unfair is true. Just the way it is.
