I noticed last nite my radio and clock and in light above me in my 1999 corolla was not working, went to a local auto parts store he put a new fuse in and smoke started to come out from the top of by interior by my light ,it was working but we took out the fuse car runs perfect no other electrical trouble any ideas besides going to a rip off electrical mehanic or can i rought it with out a radio?

You have a short in the wiring by the light. With the fuse out, there is not current to the light, so there is no danger in driving the vehicle. Have the wiring checked, the problem is near where you saw the smoke!

It sounds to me like to have a short to ground somewhere, that will cause the fuse to blow and smoke to rise when power if fed through it, that is basicly the same as crossing the two terminals of a battery it creates a spark and intense heat causing a huge surge to the system making the fuse blow out which is what its supposed to do.

would appear you have a short ie a live wire touching earth check the interior light unit ti see if any chaffing ie any wires exposed and touching earth if there is either insulate live wire or replace wire with new retest with a test light to see if you now have a good earth and live

Sounds like the wiring to the overhead light has failed. You need to remove light and inspect the area.
