Two responses to an important question, I feel it needs a closer look.

Direct quotes from my last post on this subject.

"I was about to post about this when I saw another guy already post - so my apologies for posting a redundant question but i'd like to extend the point some

Common arguments with liberals that go on for 30 mins or so end up past 9/11, past Iraq, bush, kerry, suicide bombings -

they all end up with the final point: Is there such a thing as Mid-East moderates?

Liberals often claim majority of muslims do not support terrorism.
Where are these people?
Where are these people when the Pope says 'insensitive comments' and nuns die and churches burn?
all I see are muslims out in the streets saying Jesus is the slave of allah and the west will perish.

"Where are they?
"They're afraid of getting their heads chopped off"
Oh well, that's OK, we'll just get ours chopped off - no.

If they silently tolerate it, they support it, and if they support it, it's a war is it not?

Prove me wrong. Show me these muslims that want to fight terrorists. you'll find ten or twenty.

Thanks for your comment, the guy who doesn't like bush but agrees with what I said.

Makes sense no? regardless on if you don't like bush or not.

And about the Pope and the 500 people on TV burning churches and killing people - one example.

Dozens, hundreds, thousands killed since the 70's.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear that I refered to the broader picture.

My solution is not to wage war on 1.5 billion muslims.

My solution is to demand an end to this acceptance of extremism in Islam"

"Not to sound Bushy, because he said 'yer with us or against us', it's true, some say Bush is so gung ho and texan but he didn't even live up to it.

if -I- were president, i'd live up to it, a greater amount of intolerance towards extremism needs to be given in the Islamic world or, you ARE with us or against us.

NEW RESPONSE

Yes, more ranting than asking a question, more frustrated than ranting.

I want Islam to reject the extremist side entirely, it would do a lot to avoid a third war

I already posted this answer on the other question (mentioned above) but it is so funny that I just have to post it here, too.

Well, Dubya says there are plenty of Muslims signed up to fight terrorism in Iraq and more signing up every day. As soon as there are enough, we will bring our troops home.

The problem is, although I believe most Muslims are peaceful, I don't believe a word that Bush says.

I'm not sure what to think. If Bush is telling the truth, the war in Iraq will end someday. That is something that I hope happens soon.

If Bush is lying, the war in Iraq will never end and that means we'll continue sending troops to get killed and wounded forever.

I think I'll have to agree with you. There are no Muslims up to the task and George W. Bush is lying when he says we are winning the war in Iraq.

Um - I don't have to prove that muslims are peaceful. You say they are all supporters of terrorists. You want to make the case, the burden of proof falls on you. Why don't you ask Bush? Oh - I forgot, he was asked but it's a national security issue.

Yes there are moderate Muslims, but they are being pushed to the right by recent events including US foreign policy.

Go to Google and search moderate Muslims. You'll find some sites and articles. Here's one that I just found.

Fear is a ugly enemy to fight. That is the purpose of terrorism. Make you afraid to fight. True Muslims have strength in numbers, they only lack the courage of leaders to help them fight the fear.
