That really is unethical in terms of privacy and unconsenting (for others), and I wouldn't approve of you doing this. You don't have to know *everybody* your children know. My parents certainly didn't and I was put in no danger!

However, if you can't simply call these numbers yourself, most registered phones can be viewed on their Network's website. You could appeal to them for your needs.

You can always put their screen name into google and see if anything comes up. The person your kids are texting may be registered on different websites with the same name and you may be able to find out more information about them that way.

I might add that I'm not sure whether you meant that they were texting online or over the phone. I understand that you are very concerned about your children and you have every right to know who they are talking to if the content of the messages concern you. I would ignore what other people are saying about getting off your kids backs. You have a right to do this when you are concerned about the kind of influence your children are having from an unknown person.

The 'name' that appears on a phone when you text or phone someone is just the name you've used in your own personal address books for that phone number, so there's no way to map that name (which you've effectively just made up) to a real person.

while youre at it you should start following them around so you can get a photo library of all the people they talk to. have to tried getting someone to wear a wire and go undercover.

Why do you want to invade their privicy like that? Just ask, or dont worry.
