You cannot force a 6 month old to run or a two year old to do algebra. Countries also have there own version of democracy, not all democracies are the same. Just as not all parenting is the same. As President Ahmadinejad said, that it takes time to democratize a country. When countries have had certain ways for thousands of years, changes do not come instantaneously. Even our own country gave black people the right to sit anywhere on the bus or in restaurants only 50 or so years ago. So yes, I agree, you cannot impose your will on anyone.

Democracy is not imposed , it is earned ! Your 2 examples are poor examples at best. Those 2 countries are leaders in democracy around the world. Ask Poland, Britain, Australia, most all of Europe about Democracy. If you are implying Iraq or Lebanon, or Palestine as being imposed. Are you saying the people that oppose Democracy with their Bombs, IED's, and out right killing of innocent people a good alternative to Democracy, you really don't have a clue.

Failures?

Germany was a desperate nation with minimal natural resources and labor/economic strife in the 1920's. They solved this by invading Czech, Pole and French territory and got greedy in Russia and fell to their deserved end. The resulting democracy has been flourishing for 60 years and is the financial and political standard of the EU.

Japan basically RAN the global economy in the late 80's and early 90's and continually sets the tone for manufacturing and technological discovery and advance. Their imperial, feudal system did them absolutely no good and their simplistic attempt to secure natural resources outside of their tiny enclave by invasion and colonization led to an upheaval on the Pacific Rim that still resonates in the memories of Korea and China today. We made Japan a fruitful and productive global economic and political player, something they had no chance of achieving under the 'banzai' policies of Hirohito's political henchmen.

Get your facts straight before you revise history and cast the US as some failed Alexandrian plunderer. Without US action on a global scale, you'd be well versed in German or Russian and probably posting this question in a handwritten parchment on a jail cell wall.

If you compare the occupations, Iraq and Japan and Germany their is one difference, the amount of time we occupied. I will give you that Japan was a failure to try to give them democracy because today their Internet is censored etc.. You are right, you cannot cram democracy down peoples throats with a gun. The people from within have to revolt and give themselves freedom just like the U.S.did.

Failures??!! Germany and Japan are in better shape now than at any time in their history as a result of US and Allied liberating them. Democracy is a flexible product and can be molded to each country's situation.
Your argument is very poor.

Ahhh, you are clever......your point is aimed at liberals....I was taken in a first, but appreciate your point!

well Germany is kinda of a jacked up country(but i think it has to do with the people's culture not democracy). but japan is well run country.they got a strong economy their people are well educated they have the best technology in the world.they are doing pretty good with democracy.

but i get what you mean about imposing democracy on countries who don't want it.who are we to tell someone how to run their country.when this country(USA) isn't perfect either.
