Gravity pulls all things equally toward the middle, making a sphere.
To a first-order approximation the Earth is round. This
is due to gravity. Gravity pulls with equal strength in all
directions; therefore any variations from a spherical
shape will lead to gravitational forces that
bring the shape back into that of a sphere.
This is without considering the rotation of the earth,
however. The rotation of the earth adds centrifugal
effects, which cause the earth to bulge slightly at
its equator and flatten slightly at its poles.
(This is like twirling a rock on the end of a string
and then letting go--the rock flies away from the
twirler.) Because of these centrifugal effects, the
distance from the center of the earth to the surface
of the earth is about 0.33% shorter at the poles
compared to the equator.

No the world is flat. It says so in the Bible; Numbers 15:38, Ezekiel 7:2, Isaiah 11:12, Job 37:3 and 38:13. The round Earth idea is only a theory dreamt up by liberals who hate America.

The round part you are seeing is your moma big head and the flat part is her flat chest. If you really want to know why the world is round i think you better go back to school.

well, if the theory that earth is made from a collection of dust is true, then it should be because that collection of dust would have compressed due to gravity. The earth has layers because the more mass it obtains, the higher the gravity. and since gravity pulls from all sides, the earth must be round.

the earth formed from a large quantity of space dust and the best shape for any free moving item in a vacuum is a sphere, because it has the largest surface area
