patiotism is love and care for ones country. one cares for the bettering of the country, but does not wish to destroy/hinder another country. A patriot;s love for his/her contry will be so great that he/she might disagree with what a mislead leader's actions. A partiot would recoginize that an evil or mislead person in power is not always the best asset to their homeland. A nationalist will praise their country, even if the country is doing something wrong. They will use anything, including violence, to keep their country the best and take down other nations.

a gimmick used to rally the poor and working class around a flag and convince them to go fight, kill, and die ultimately for the benefit of the upper class/ruling elites who position themselves to benefit financially from all the gorilla chest thumping. It also does a good job at keeping humanity divided.
