Ok, all of you that continually claim we should be out of Iraq, draw back to our own borders, and stop bothering people in the Mid East in order to improve out own safety: Do you honestly think that is going to work?

Just what do you plan to offer the al Qaeda's and Irans of the world? What is you bargaining chip?

I ask this because I don't see how you negotiate with a group that has openly proclaimed their goal is the end of Western Civilization and complete destruction of the United States, specifically.

We (the US) did not provoke this opinion/goal. The Islamic facists don't even claim we did. They claim it is the order to "kill the infadels" and spread Islam at all costs to all corners of the world. Their recent statements regarding the pope indicate as much.

So what will you offer them to leave you alone?

Essentially, no one has addressed the question. What is your bargaining tool when the demands on the other side of the table are nothing short of your total destruction????? No one willing to take this one on?

Uh - Peace? When has Iran threatened us? Name any other muslim country that has recently. It's Al Qaeda that threatens us and a few other two bit religious nuts that have no organization, no infrastructure, no military, no nothing except fanatcism and propaganda. Their numbers are very small. How many? 10,000? 20,000? 50,000? So what? You don't know how many there are. Can you seriously say that we should abandon our basic way of life in order to save it without the facts? Use your head!

Have you done your homework and actually read anything the Muslims themselves are saying? I have. An overwhelming majority of muslim clerics condemn killing of innocents. But Bush jacked everything so far out of proportion to reality with his anti-muslim rhetoric it makes me want to vomit.

No, pulling out of Iraq right now is the stupidest thing we can do. We need to finish the job, of course...but Bush's personal strategy is not working. From what I've read about what military leaders think about the situation, he needs to let them run THEIR war the best way THEY see fit, and needs to FULLY support them, and give them ALL the tools and protections they need. Once we sent our troops in, the most foolish thing we could do is pull out prematurely. The situation would get MUCH worse.

But I do NOT agree with your assesment of Islam. You are equating ALL muslims with terrorism, which isn't even close to being true. You are equating Iraq with terrorism, which is so misguided as to be untrue. Bush was wrong about the WMD's, so he came up with the Saddam/Ossama connection, which both the CIA and FBI have proven to be untrue, and he's now reverting to the terrorist bit again, when Iraq had NOTHING at all to do with 9-11. How UTTERLY CONVENIENT that the Pope made his statement when he did, and Islamic Fundamentalists reacted as any idiot would know they would. Yes, convenient. Do you feel such a great need for retribution that you'll send our troops to attack ANYBODY? Terrorists are WORLDWIDE. Invading Iraq has NO (positive) effect on it. It's like attacking one hill to kill a planet. There's most assuredly terrorists residing in California. Are we going to attack there next?

Yes, we need to finish this job, else our having been there will have made the situation infinitely worse. We also need to recognize that our INVASION AND OCCUPATION of Iraq under FALSE PRETENSE is doing nothing but validating the terrorists amongst themselves, and building more Islamic hate against us. plain and simple, there never was and still is not a WARRANTED, CONCRETE, or CONSISTENT reason for us to have invaded Iraq.

NO patriot would have thrown away his freedoms, liberties, guarantee of due process, or protections against unfair treatment by government (the mis-named Patriot Act). No patriot would have spit in our forefathers face that way, or any of the American soldiers who have fought and died for our freedom and liberty over the centuries. No patriot would send our soldiers off to die under false pretense IMAGINING it would save his OWN little butt somehow. No, only a CHICKEN traitor to everything America EVER stood for would do that.

Bush's "War on Terror" has done nothing but greatly diminish the rights, freedoms, and political/legal protections of AMERICAN CITIZENS. Our borders are still WIDE open, and Islamic Fundamentalists continue to use our flight training schools. The Patriot Act accomplishes only this: protects our government from US...and protects us from NOTHING.
