Democrate or Republican, it will still most likely be a neo-con in disguise. They've been promising us this NEW WORLD ORDER for years now, and few people realise that the Patriot Act already very significantly changed the definition of our country. We are living an illusion that nothing has changed, but those changes were made for a reason. I think we're about to find out what that reason is.

Our National Security structure has been completely rebuilt. The President now has more powers. Our citizens now have considerably less civil rights/liberties, less real freedom, no right to due process under certain conditions, thus very limited (if non-existent) protection from unfair treatment by our own government.

FEMA's role extends into policing and undermining popular citizen's movements in which governmental authority feels it is threatened. If the President declares an UNDEFINED state of emergency, FEMA can take control of all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports, seize and control the communication media, take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals, take over all food resources and farms, mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision, take over all health, education and welfare functions, designate the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons, take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft, relocate communities (internment camps which already exist), and establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S.

Thanks neo-con supporters. You screwed us all REAL good.

At this point I really believe that Republicans will will the white house again in 2008. There is no good democrat at the moment and the party is hurting itself by moving to far to the left with its attack on Liberman in Connecticut. Even Ed Koch - the old former Democratic Mayor of NYC is abandoning ship. I have only voted for Democrats for President - but I may be tempted to vote Republican - definately Republican if Rudy G. runs.

The next presidential election will not be until 2008. No one can predict that far ahead. Third party candidates have run for the presidency in the past. They usually get only a very small percentage of the vote.
There is always speculation about who will be the next president. My sense is it will be someone not in the political limelight right now. We will all be tired of hearing from and about today's front runners over the next two+ years.

That is a tough one...the Republicans are not very liked at the moment. But the Democrats really have nothing to offer to make things any better. People say they will vote Independent, but when they get in the booths, they usually change there mind and vote either Rep/Dem, because they think that their vote should be counted for or against the party they like/dislike...Hope this helps.

It is possible for a third party president, but that is currently unlikely. As to which party will win, it's still 2 years until the next presidential elections so it is open. Political fortunes can change overnight.

In theory it is possible, but there hasn't been a president who wasn't either Republican or Democrat since 1853 (Millard Filmore, a whig). It'll probably never happen again either.

Maybe a Whig? Just kidding, but I doubt it'll be an independent. Lets just say, for sh!ts and grins, a Green Party candidate.

For starters the US does not have a ruler. We have elected leaders. Who knows who our next leaders will be? We do have other parties and they may get lucky this time.
