Rap, pop, techno, I don't care. Any style, as long as it's Japanese.

Faye Wong is Chinese.

Anyway, Japanese music is just as diverse as American music (in fact, the Japanese recording industry is second only to the U.S. in size), so you'll find a wide range of tastes. Myself, I lean towards the pop/urban side of things with a dash of rock, but am not fond of the vapid girly-pop of the "Hello Project" girl groups, nor the "visual kei" rock with guys who look like girls. I'm a big fan of Hikaru Utada, BoA (who's Korean but has carved herself out a career in Japanese pop), Namie Amuro, the brilliant green/Tommy February6/Tommy Heavenly6, m-flo, Shiina Ringo/Tokyo Jihen, Bonnie Pink, fra-foa, Puffy, HALCALI, Heartsdales, and Dragon Ash.
