For example, would you question the integrity or follow marital advice from a marriage counselor who is himself divorced?

Do you think it is good, bad, or indifferent for a therapist to have personal experiences with the difficulties he is counseling on?

I think, if anything, it's good if they have had a variety of experience. It doesn't really matter if they themselves are divorced/married/whatever, it matters if they're a good therapist.

I would never eliminate a therapist because of their personal experiences. I would want a therapist that was willing to live his or her life with integrity and who would allow me to discuss all options. If you are a couple that refuses to look at the option of divorce tell him/her. If it bothers you, find someone else.

I would not consider counseling from anyone. The best marriage advice I have ever seen is this:
Love is not in gazing at each other, but looking together in the same direction.
Good Luck.

specific, i could. A divorce can happen for numerous motives that could or is probably no longer the fault of the counselor. A counselor isn't obligated to stay a appropriate existence. S/he's experienced in the thank you to help others locate solutions to THEIR issues.

I love this question! Yes I would because they might have more knowledge of the workings and might just be a pickier person.

For me, I wouldn't be opposed to it, but I want to know the reasons for their divorce.
