People do stand up to them.
However, when it comes to the issue of illegals, or terrorists then some people consider a differing view point racist.

There is no one simple answer to this question, but it is quite thought provoking. The way I see it: to some people, racism, islamophobia, and other social ills do not directly affect them. There are some people who have the mind frame "if it doesn't affect me, it's not my problem."
