The forest is big, and that someone could be in any direction relative to the tree. If it falls, chances are it would fall in any other direction other than within the path or distance from its fall line, relative to where someone is.
In the remote chance that the distance AND direction of the falling tree is taking it towards the person's head, chances are he would hear or see the falling tree and be able to take evasive action to ensure the tree does not strike him on the head.

Depends on if you believe in chaos theory or Murphy's Law. Chaos theory would have a mathmatical equation that I could not comprehend or relay. Murphy's Law would dictate that it would hit him and then cause a dominoe effect that would topple the entire forest. It might even involve piggies taking over the world.
