You CAN'T swallow your tongue, the muscle relaxes as does all muscles when unconscious and when it is relaxed it flops backwards and blocks the airway.

It is impossible to swallow your tongue as it is attached to the bottom of your mouth. What we refer to as "swallowing your tongue" is actually a slippling back of the tongue against the pharnyx, which can cause choking. This can happen during seizures and so forth, when there is no muscle control.

The term swallowing your tongue is a bit of a fallacy. it is physically impossible to swallow it without it being chopped off first.
If a person loses consciousness they lose control of the muscles around the throat and mouth making them go all floppy, if they are laid on their back then the tongue can just flop to the back of the throat and block air from getting to the lungs if you tilt the head back (chin lift) of pull the jaw forwards, this straightens the pharynx and trachea (wind pipe) out and moves the tongue out of the way so you can breath again - no need to go fishing for the tongue.

You can't actuallly swallow your tongue. But if you are unconscious and lying on your back, it can fall back and block your airway, causing death by asphyxiation. You have to be deeply unconscous for that, like WAY drunk or something. In fact, to do mouth-to-mouth breathing effectively, you have to deal with that by tilting the head back which lifts the tongue off the back of the throat.

Easily swallowed? That usually happens when someone is having a seizure and the person has no control of thier muscles. I'm sure they have to be working something in their mouth very hard to get that to happen.

It most certainly can. My ex-husband's was swollen from an infection and he strangled to death on it. But their can be a lot of other reasons why you are having difficult, not the least of which is stomach cancer. Get thee to a doctor!!!
