The body (skin) absorbs a certain amount of water when bathing...but 5lbs seems excessive.

Why not look up 'heavier after bath' or something similar online, and see what you come up with?

Do we? No one told me.
Do you really weigh yourself before and after you have a bath?
Why?
The pissing in the bath answer makes the most sense here.

If you have a turkish bath (very hot bath) you loose weight because the heat causes you to sweat, and hence you loose water from your body making you weigh less (temporarily, until your body naturally restores this water).

But as for gaining weight...........maybe you weigh yourself with wet hair??

I guess we soak up the water... (remember giving your teddies a bath when you were little and they'd be ooh so heavy that your mummy needs to help you pick them up to hang them on the line by their ears?) On a more adult note, people weigh less in the morning, so for ego's sake, I tend to weigh myself as soon as I get up, before my bath and breakfast.

Because when you push up to get out the bath and your bum is still in the water, the exertion sucks up bath water in one's back pipe but you don't realize as your body temperature is same as water temp.

Your weight gain is due to the fact that you sat in the bath for 3 days eating pizza. You slob.

Now that I didn't know! Maybe the water gets in and can't get out.
