Its' not that I'm lazy, It's just I would have to take down my computer, move the stand just to get to the serial number, now If I had no other choice then I would do that, but since I know theres another way, I'm not going to. Also I tired the ctrl+alt+s thing it worked on my hp computer, but it doesn't work on my older emachine, both are Windows XP SP2

Start
Settings
Control Panel
System
Click on the General tab and there's a section called "Registered to". The serial # will be displayed there.
FYI: Ctrl+Alt+S does NOTHING.

The BIOS. When the computer just starts up, get into the BIOS by pressing the "Delete" key or F2.

It is easier to look at the back or some computers have it on the side (a small sticker). The sticker may also show the Service ID number.

Why not get off your lazy butt and look on the back? It'd be much easier than looking for all your manuals and boxes for your serial number when it's literally a foot 1/2 away from you when you were typing this question. :|

That's usually the only way, but if you are lucky, you might still have the invoice or computer box which may have the serial number.

Wouldn't it be less trouble to look at the back once, write it down and tape it under your keyboard for future reference?

Get manufacturers name (Dell, etc), call support, tell them when and where you made purchase, they should be able to bring you up in their system, thus giving you your serial #.
