You haven't said where you live, but £200/month will do fine for rent in a lot of places. Might be pushing it if you live in London or south east.
Don't forget to account for bills and council tax, that will add on another £20-£30 a week.
Try www.gumtree.com - lots of houses listed on there. They also list flat shares, which could save you a bit of money and might be more fun, bed-sits can be a bit grim.

200 quid will get you a place of your own, but be careful, you may find that your own apartment soon becomes a nightmare! There are many unscrupulous people out there waiting for someone like you! Choose carefully.

It depends were you live. Western states are MUCH MORE than Eastern states. I just moved to Texas from California last year because the rent was to high!!! I hope you find your dream appartment soon! Good Luck!!!

It depends where you live. It may be possible in some areas but I dont think the place would be very nice, a cheap bedsit perhaps.

Sounds too cheap to me, I would estimate at least £400 per month plus utility bills and food etc; it's not cheap, and it gets lonely, why not try for flat share?

I don't know in England but in America you can't OWN apartments, you can only rent them. You can however, purchase a condo.
