Uhm, I am not sure this question can be answered without delving deep into religious views. However, I will avoid those and give you my personal oppinion. Pedophilia, like homosexuality, is a term used to describe what one is attracted to. Homosexuality cannot be "cured." One cannot change what they are attracted to. One can keep him or herself (90% of pedophiles are men) from acting on their attractions, however, well, how would you feel is you didn't get to have sex forever. While there is no stable evidence that they cannot be rehabilitated, most believe that this and every other paraphilia cannot be rehabilitated. Most research on this subject is limited due to the legality of being a pedophile. Also, I believe that the christianazis totally disagree with my standpoint. But, I still believe it is right. Again, these are only MY opinions.

I don't know if there is correct evidence--possibly could find answers if you looked more on the internet, but I do know that it seems you hear that when someone is being accused or prosecuted that they have been accused of the same earlier. First hand experience with a daughter--no it is not--you can't control them and their minds stay the same--that is like teaching a dog new tricks when they have done the same thing over and over for years. I think they should all have to be recongnized in some way so parents can keep their kids away from them---they don't change.

Jail and Prison does not rehabilitate anyone who has a psychological disorder. They should be treated for the mental illness that they have. Its said that pedophiles abuse over 160 children in their life times. That number drops to 150 if they've gone to prison!
On a side note: in mental institutions or in the situation where men are put into homes for mental incapacitation they are given the depo birth control shot to control their urges. Now why can't the law force convicted and released pedophiles to undergo the same shot each month in order to control their desires?!

It's not that they cannot be...but many appear to repeat their behavior when given the opportunity.
If you had a child, would you a known pedophile living near you? Would you be comfortable that the person had been 'rehabilitated'?

Who cares. Lock them in a dungeon and worry about rehabilitating the real innocents they hurt. Throw the monsters a piece of bread every few days and let them drink their own p!ss.
Sorry, that's one group I could not care less about "rehabilitating."

Pedophilia is a disease and must be treated as such.The good news is that it can be treated. I believe that a lot of pedophiles may have been abused as children and this is what they know. I am not saying that it's O.K. They are crying out for help and I am prepared to help them and their victims instead of condemning them.
