I think the reason is marketing. The ultra-skinny chick who walks down the fashion runway often looks like she is strung-out on heroin with black circles under her eyes, protruding joints, such as shoulders, elbows, knees, et cetera.
Women, most of us guys don't go for that type of anorexic chick. I can only blame the gay fashion designers who either are jealous of beautiful woman so they want to make them look ugly as some type of Freudian envy or for some other twisted reason.
I prefer women who are sexy, with a bit of meat on their bones. That Barbie skinny chick image is a lot of Bravo Sierra.
