Every time I let my milk dry on my baby's bibs or clothes, it leaves a light brown/gray stain after washing. I'd love to wash all her clothes immediately, but anyone who's had a newborn knows that's not exactly possible. So... any advice? Has anyone found a stain remover or a process that works to remove breastmilk stains?
Thanks!

I always rinsed my baby's stained clothes in cold water then threw them in the bathroom sink to soak in cold water (always cold, not warm or hot) and rubbed Dreft into the spot(s). You have to do it right away, so the stain doesn't have any time to set. Sometimes I would have to let it soak all day, coming back every hour or two to rub more Dreft into the stain. If you have to do that, make sure you scrub the stain good when you add more Dreft. When the stain was gone I would just throw the clothes over my shower curtain rod to dry and then throw it in with my wash. If I rinsed and soaked right away, the stains always came out.

But once you've washed and (gasp!) dried them in the dryer the stains may be there to stay. I guess you could try something like bleach, but some baby clothes (especially sleepwear) are treated with a flame retardant that will come out if you use harsh chemicals, so I wouldn't do that.

Good luck :o)

try soaking the clothes in a gallon of HOT water and a half a scoop of CLOROX 2 powder...... The longer you soak the clothes the better ( a day or two ). Then wash them in your washer using the hot water setting with some more clorox 2 and detergent.

My mom recently gave me all of MY baby clothes from 25yrs ago since i found out i was having a girl in Nov. Alot of them were stained with OLD SET IN spit up stains.... (i dont know if she breastfed or used formula though...) surprisingly... every single one came out and the clothes look brighter and cleaner than ever! Hope this helps! :o)

I have used the product, Lysol Kitchen Antibacterial Cleaner as a spot remover and it totally removes all stains, even baby formula so Im sure it would also work on breastmilk stains.

Never use bleach on a protein stain, use ammonia in the wash and you can pre-treat with it but make sure you rinse the clothes well and rewash in gentle soap so your baby's skin is not irritated. Most stores have special detergents in the baby aisle too.

I breastfed for 5 months with a baby who had bad spit up problems and never had problems with it staining!!!

But i use shout on everything..........i air dry wet clothes, once they are dry, put them in laundry hamper til laundry day....laundry day, go through each piece and spray with shout, wash as normal...my baby's clothes do not have any stains!!
