I'm a business owner, operating a mortgage company that will shortly become quite large, God permits, in a few months from now.
You don't need to wow your bosses. Be yourself, stay true to yourself of being a fast learner and hard worker. Impressing everyone else around you is simply playing politics at the office.
The bottomline is to show your passion and genuine interest in your work no matter how simple or "entry-level" it is.
Being that you're in a mortgage company - details is of the utmost importance. Diligence and eye for details will help your effectiveness as a worker.
Time and deadline is very important. Mortgage is always about time. Your best friend and best enemy is time. Having a 9-to-5 mentality will put you out of job as quickly as you got in. Every file you work on is a project that requires all your attention. If you need to stay beyond your hours to prepare the project for the next level the following day, you will be invaluable to the business/office.
Mortgage work is all about hitting the target time with the most precise data and information required that's already been categorized and properly accounted for.
Should you develop all these qualities, I myself may invite you to come and work for us.
Good luck!

Your questions shows you have the right attitude.
Just show up on time and go!
A few other tips:
-- Whenever you have some down time, see if you can help someone else.
-- Avoid disgruntled or negative coworkers.
-- Meet your deadlines.
-- Volunteer for new or unpopular assignments.
-- If you don't know something, ask.
-- Make sure you understand what you're supposed to do. And check with your boss to make sure you're doing it correctly. In other words, make sure you and your boss have the same definition of "good work." (That's especially important if you're starting a new job and don't have experience.)

I had no experience working at my previous position at the Federal Reserve Bank of San francisco. I had training as well and after I finished training, my former supervisor kept on asking Sonja (the person who I shared my cubicle with) to see how I am learning this job. She said I am doing well, so he verfied to see if I am a fast learner. He was amazed at my performance that he gave me an impressive reference for me to return to OfficeTeam as a temp because my position just ended. So, continue working hard and impress your supervisor.

Be on time. Don't be an *** kiss b/c your equals will despise you. Just do your job & be yourself! Don't act like you know everything. You just started, you shouldn't know everything.
If you don't know something, just ask. Chances are there are others who don't know something but are afraid to ask. Here's the problem though. You got to be sure that you trust your source. They could tell you incorrectly just to make you look bad.

Every boss loves a clean office. If you have spare time, find the vaccuum/window cleaner and clean away. I learned that from an ex-boss of mine, and I do it at any new job I go to. They love it!

Just be patient with yourself and learn at your own pace. Try not to appear flustered if they are explaining something to you you don't quite understand, and ask questions. These questions will tell them that you are interested in learning the field. They will respect that from you.
