Is this band considered heavymetal or punk rock?I mean heavymetal is like Slayer, Children Of Bodom, Metallica, megadeth and what not and are they punk? I mean Danzig and Misfits are PUNK.

They are a punk metal band. I would not consider them heavy metal. Their rifts are more punk than anything.

There were never heavy metal nor punk. When Shadows used to scream there were considered metal (yes, there's a difference) but after he had surgery and lost his ability, they're far from that. Personally, I don't like their attitudes (especially Syn) and they are really bad live. Fans say that they're great but the truth is that most fans are there for their pretty faces and don't give damn about skill.
P.S.: It's "Avenged Sevenfold".

First of all it's better to learn something
Slayer=Trash Metal
Children of Bodom=Power / Speed Metal with Harsh Vocals
Metallica= Thrash Metal (early) Modern Rock (now)
Megadeth=Thrash/Speed Metal
then none of them are heavy metal

Unfortunately they're considered a Hardcore band gone passed the underground line. I also heard they were considered a psycho billy group in the past. But they're more metal than punk.

Avenged sevenfold certainly has a lot of punk influences but those guitars are textbook metal. Some of their older stuff was more punk oriented as well, but I would say they have been getting more metal as time has gone on.

their genre differs depending on the person you ask...but for the most part....their older stuff in considered "metalcore" and the newer stuff is considered "heavy rock...with a metal edge" but one thing that a7x fans (new and old) agree on is that it has some type of metal edge to it.
