Actually, they don't really need to be able to spell. All they have to do is click on "Check Spelling" and DON'T!
Then, there's the people who cannot put together a coherent thought or structure a sentence properly. Yeah, I'm with you.
The ignorance, lack of education and downright rudeness is astounding.

Uh, some are foreign, some are young and used to slang spelling, and some are simply uneducated.
Look at the types of questions. If somebody asks a Jr. High type question, expect Jr. High spelling and grammar.

If I could rate your question as the best question of the year, I would. I ask myself this all the time because there's a button for everyone to use labeled Check Spelling.

The reason is because people are lazy. It's not a professional document so spelling and grammar go right out the window.

The spelling, punctuation and grammar are terrible. I always hit the spell check feature before I submit.

Personally, I agree. I think the spelling on this site is appalling. If it's rude, then that makes two of us.

You're not rude, you're being honest. Some of these people don't even know english in my opinion. It's sad to see teens today who can't read or write and they have jobs. How does that happen???
