Shakezilla, Million Dollar Baby won the Academy Award for best picture a couple of years ago. That in my opinion is a greater sports movie than Rocky.

Field of Dreams
It's theme is the timelessness of baseball and how sports have served as a common cultural history for Americans.

I can think of a lot of great sports movies. However, Rocky's theme is undeniably the most copied. So Rocky would have had the most influence and is arguably the best. Also...name another sports franchise to have won an acadamy award.

The Last Boyscout
I loved the rawness of the movie. The starting scene...the football player running down the Field to make a goal pulls out a gun and just starts blowing people away...whoa! 'Course Bruce Willis really rocked it, Damon Wayens and Halle Berry!

The Longest Yard w/Burt Renolds because it showed that even knuckle-heads can find a common ground,and even stick together through a bad situation even prison i think it showed the raw passion for football, real smash-mouth for the glory and the hits we'ren't bad either.

I'd have to go with "Remember the Titans", a truly inspiring film not only about winning, but overcoming the problems of racism in the first days of integration.

remember the titans was the best sports movie ever made.... not just a sports movie shows something bigger racism and how times were back then! great movie.. kudos to hoosiers though.. also a classic

My sentimental favorite would have to be "Field Of Dreams" - it speaks directly to the relationship between Baseball, Family, Community, Memory, and Life. Watch it again sometime soon.
