Yes, it is much safer to have excellent dental hygiene while pregnant than any minimal risk this may pose, which should be almost none.
You should also ask the dentist for the option of Carbocaine, which has no epinephrine in it. It does not last as long as Novacaine, but minimizes any risk of reacting to the epinephrine (adrenaline) to essentially zero.
And use the lead shields if he/she should absolutely need to xray you.

I think so. I had a root canal the day I found out I was pregnant. They had trouble numbing me so I had a lot of novacaine shots. Just make sure you tell them next time so they don't take x-rays.

Yes - novacaine is water soluable, so it will just pass through your system and not harm baby. Just don't get any Nitrous!

Yes, you can have novacaine, but the drug they use to put you asleep with, no, you cannot have.
