I just had a new roof. The question is there are many shingles sticking up. The roofer said that those sticking-up shingles will be flatten down after several weeks with rains and sunshines. Is this an acceptable interpretation to the questional work quality?

Thanks for your knowledgeable thoughts.

Shingles should lay flat when installed. A little wavyness may be there but would relax after a few days of sun and then would lay flat. Sculptured shingles have additional thickness giving the roof an appearance of using individual shingles which are not always the same thickness. In either case should the ends of shingles be sticking UP.

some shingles will stand up a little but as the heat starts to melt the tar in the shingles they should eventually lay I would give about a month but if you live in a high wind area then you might want to check your service warranty

if the weather has not been warm/hot, then the shingles may take a time to lay flat; otherwise it should take but a few days.

That's normal. The sun will shape them to flatten out after a few weeks.

If they aren't sticking up ridiculously then he is correct as soon as the sun heats them up they will sit down.
