this is for my high school chemistry class and i would like to know how to do this for a lab we are completeing. if anyone has any ideas that would be AWESOME!!!

You could mix the salt/sand mixture into a pot of water and then filter the sand out since it won't dissolve. Then you can boil the water because the salt won't evaporate, and you'll be left with the salt

Adding water to a mixture of salt and sand will make the salt dissolve in the water leaving the sand in suspension. The sand can be removed with a filter of the appropriate pore size and the salt can be recovered by boiling the water off.

put in water and stir. The salt will be absorbed into the water. Then decant the water into a beaker. Pour it out slowly and the sand (which is heavier) will stay in the original container.

Then place the beaker of salt water on a flame and boil the water away. The salt will remain.
