"I am a conservative. I shall never listen to the facts about the negatives of our President. I shall always argue with reason, and thus argue with Liberals even when they are correct, because i am afraid to be wrong. I promise to stay uneducated about Bush's foreign and domestic policy, so that i may continue to follow him blindly like sheep. I swear to support Bush always, even though we have had an economic recession ever since his inauguration... and even though he has lied to the American people and broken the Constitution (such as the 4th Amendment with the phone-tapping) and disregarded the Geneva Convention, and angered the UN and many new foes. I shall make annoying, unbelievably immature and dishonest representations of Democrats, so that i may mock them even though i am uninformed about how valuable such Americans have been. Hail Bush! The one who said "I am the decider!" even though this is a democracy. Hail Hitler! Er...I mean BUSH!

Not all Republicans and Conservatives are like that to be fair. I respect logical, clear opinions...even if they oppose mine.

Cinner, your apparent lack of knowledge is why you "settle with Bush"
FYI, i do not blindly follow any individual. I get my info from several sources and a few different news channels at a time. Just wanted you to know.

Keep in mind what a conservative is. By definition a conservative is a person who is opposed to sudden change. Their minds have great difficulty in accepting new thoughts. They identify themselves quickly by saying things like "we never did it that way before", "if you do THAT, then THIS will happen", or better yet, "if you ALLOW that, then this will happen". They can't help themselves. Their minds immediately rebel when any kind of new thought is mentioned. Abandoning Mr. Bush would be a wee bit too much of a change for most of them.

Wow--you have jumbled up a bunch of terms and made some pretty broad generalizations.
First, it is not accurate to equate the Republican party with the social and philosphical theory of "conservatism". It is very wrong to equate Bushism or neo-conservatism with classical conservative thinking.
Neo-conservatism has been defined as pragmatic conservatism. Pragmatism is a slippery slope--so it can mean almost anything you want it to mean. This means you pick and choose your positions.
There is not space here to go into what is really conservative thinking. I suggest you look at such things as the "National Review" or "The Economist." Barry Goldwater was pretty much a classical conservative--or perhaps better defined as a libertarian who believed a strong national defense was a legitimate function of the federal government--as was the promtion of the libertarian ideas of freedom and liberty throughout the world.
In general true conservatives believe in small government and the non-intrusion of the government into the lives of individuals.
Conservatives oppose Leftist theories such as Marxism, Kensyeian economics, multi-cultural relativism, socialism, political correctness, etc.
One last comment on the Republican Party. After waging the civil war it got down to business. The "Radical Republicans" who actually believed the war was about slavery were ousted and the party got down to the business of promoting the agenda of its core constituency--which is Big Money-Industry.
This remains the core constituency of the Republican Party. It does,of course, have to form coalitions with other groups to win elections. Therefor at times it's interests will overlap with other segments of the population--or it will adapt to attract these group. These groups are at times true conservatives, those who believe in less government regulation, social conservatives (the Religous Right), bigots, facist-inclined people, etc.
And these coaltions work fine for the party so long as they overlap with the interests of the core constituency of the party--that interest is a strong federal govenment in partnership with Big Money.
People often miss the importance of federalism to the Republican Party--but many historians consider Lincoln to be the Bismark of America. And that really is a good way of looking at the Party and the direction they set out to and did develop it.

Generalizing are we? I thought you dems didn't like that. I am a conservative I disagree with Bush on illegal immigration and school vouchers. I do not follow him blindly, I do educate myself on the issues and make up my own mind. Economic recession? Unemployment is lower now than it ever was under Clinton, home ownership is up. If he has "broken the Constitution why has he not been brought up on charges? Disregarded the Geneva Convention? How? Making the poor terrorist suspects live in a really cold room, stand up for long periods of time, listen to loud rock music? Please...that is NOT torture!

What exacly is the point of a question like this? You are completely wrong, but you will never accept it. You are not going to change anybody's mind by your mindless name calling. So again I ask you, what is the point?
If you would like to debate one particular policy or action, then ask about that. Throwing out blanket statements and not providing any arguments to support your position is childish.
If you are willing to open your mind and accept the fact that you are wrong, many people will be glad to have an educated conversation with you.

Because, as everyone with any brains knows, truth is relative to the teller. There is no such thing as absolute truth because there is no way one person could have all the facts about any one issue. Even though I'm not a conservative, I have learned that we liberals are just as much at fault at not believing their truths either.

devil's advocate here...i can't stand Bush BUT:
you are doing the same thing by not accepting the fact that he might do something good. more than likely, you would apply the same spin you accuse cons/reps of.
this is why the two party system blows a wad all over the american people. open your eyes to ALL the lies...your party does it too

Wow, I didn't know they let Venezuelan President Chavez sign onto Yahoo when he visited the U.N. today! Did you get to become an illegal immigrant also? Get your driver's license so you can cash your welfare check? Enroll in a state school as a resident so you can save money?
I bet they rushed you down to City Hall to enroll as a voter, too. Let me guess.... Democrat? Welcome aboard, now just sit back and let Ted Kennedy yell loudly so you can get more handouts.

Why do stupid liberals think they can just spout BS lies and expect people to believe it? You need a new handler because you are being fed a load of crap. From your statements I can also see that you are too lazy to research what your handler is telling you. Get the facts and then you can come back here and bore us with your ranting.

they have their own little world where Fox News supports all their ideas with tilted facts... and if they hear anything from anywhere else that sounds like it doesn't agree with what they believe, it's just "liberal media" ... and if they start to wonder about it... Rush, Culter and Hannity will put all their fears to rest by repeating the party line and making fun of everyone who disagrees...
... so they have a support structure that tells them that they are right constantly and shades the truth, so that they believe it...
