OK, 1 knot is 1.853 kilometres. The return journey took 18 hours at an average speed of 9 knots, urgo he went the distance of 162 knots, or 300.186 kilometres.
Since he did the journey twice (there by plane, back by boat), he did a total of 600.372 kilometres. Since the total time taken was 20 hours, he did an average speed of 30.0186 km p/h
Call it 30 km p/h in round figures.

time for the to journey=2hrs
time for the fro journey=18hrs
distance=2*18*9
average speed for the round trip=2*18*9/20=16.2 knots/hour

ok, first, I'm assuming that "km p/h" really means "hm/h". The / means per.
anyway, we can calculate the total distance from the "sailing back" part. velocity = distance / time. 9=x/18. x=152 nautical miles.
*2 to get the total trip = 304 nautical miles.
total time was 2 hours + 18 hours.
again, velocity = distance / time. so 304/18. = 16.89 knots.
1 knot = 1.852 kph
therefore, the average speed was 31.27 km/h.

You need to know the speed of the plane, add both speeds up and divide by 2. A plane speed can be measure in knots also but mph or kph and knots are the same.

distance travelled is (18 x 9) x 2
18 hours sailing time at 9 kts, x 2 round trip
ie round trip is 324 nautical miles
divide that by .5396 to convert to kilometeres ~ 600 Km
divide that by 20 (18+2 hours traveltime) ~ 30kmh

tucksie is wrong.
I'm not sure what a knot is, i'll assume it's 9 mph so about 5.625 km/h.
so distance from A to B = 5.625 x 18 = 101.25 km.
so total distance = 2 x 101.25 = 202.5
total time = 2 + 18 = 20 hrs.
average speed = total distance/total time = 202.5/20 = 10.125 km/h = 16.2 knots.

18 hours at a speed of 9 knots means 16.668Km/h in 18hrs.
so you traveled 300.024km to come back. I suppose the distance is the same on ground and in the air this means you travelled 600.048km total.
2 hrs to go and 18hrs to come back
so you traveled at 30.0024km/h, let's say 30km/h.
