If you exclude religions of other origins that was infused into evolved belief systems, such as those in India, the west before christianity and islam, was believed to be judaism, from which both religions sprang from. judaism claims to be around 5,000 year old.
I believe there were other intermediary religions that took up the slack, broadly categorised as pagans, prior to the release of the holy books, for which I have not listed.
The moot point being the issue of revelations common to both
in which Christians raise the questions why Muslims do not follow ‘The Bible’, which supposedly consists of Tawraat, Zaboor, and the Injeel, which is disagreed upon as the book of men, by islamic scholars.

it all depends upon what you believe in. if you believe in the Bible, then the basis of the Bible is what your religion was... i.e. Christianity. if you are a Christian, then dates are arguable, and therefore, often considered void. this would change based upon what religion you do/no believe in.
either way, there isn't any factual information about people when they came into existence as far as religion is concerned.

Some worshipped the sun, some worshipped spirits of everything (like the animals), also think of Green and Roman mythology where they worshipped many gods.

most primitive religions were base around animal spirits and mythical (at least to us) creatures....they were polytheistic peoples with gods and goddess whose attributes explained natural occurrences.
