... on large big rig vehicles, etc. You need to get fuel filters for your bulldozers.

A female answers the phone, "Thank you for calling ________, this is Amy". She sounds friendly and energetic.

WHAT IS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF AMY?

Is Amy the Receptionist? Does she sit in the front of the building and answer phone calls all day? Is she College Educated? If you have questions about the type of Filter to use on your bulldozer, would Amy know?

Please just say the first thoughts that would come to your mind about this girl that answers the phone.

I think you already know the answer to this. You already know that Amy sits at a desk, chewing gum and filing her nails, and waiting for the phone to ring. You already know that Amy doesn't even know what a fuel filter is, and you already know that Amy is a young mother of 2-3 children and is not college educated.

Why do you know all this? Because of TV, movies, and the rest of the media stereotyping and labeling everybody they can. It truly sucks, and I look forward to the day that I personally don't have these stereotypical knee-jerk reactions to people because I know it's wrong to think this way.

Yes Amy is probably a college student, the receptionist. Not, she won´t know anything about filters but she can transfer the call to a person who does.

The word that should best describe Amy is competent.

That would include knowledgable (about the products as well as how to interact with people via the phone), literate, well-spoken, non-gum-smacking, non-smoking and patient. Bilingual would be a plus. Beyond those traits, she may be fat or thin, pretty or plain, tall or short, young or old, fashionable or nerd, degreed or not.
