Like "night and day" in strategy but still the same rules.....also they usually use 10 players on a softball team in most city leagues....much quicker game and very exciting but different.....just because yo do good in softball....you might not in playing "hardball"......just enjoy yourself and don't get hurt.....you have to work tomorrow!!

Base stealing is different from baseball. The distance between bases is less than regulation baseball; runners cannot lead off a base until the ball leaves the pitcher’s hand during a pitch. At that point, a runner can either attempt to steal or lead off a base

The size of the barrel. Softball bats have a maximum barrel diameter of 2 ¼", making it a bit difficult to make solid contact with the ball. On the other hand, baseball bats have a maximum diameter of 2 ¾" and have a longer range. .

Softball bats are lighter, stiffer & stronger than baseball bats

The softball is so "softer" and larger than a baseball

There are 9 innings in baseball and oly 7 in softball

Baseball players can go Pro and earn significant amounts of money....while softball is conidered "recreation"

There is a substancial difference between Softball & Baseball.

Softball is mainly a recreactional sport - whereas Baseball is mainly a professional sport. Baseball is arguably much harder to play since the ball, the glove and the bat are all much smaller and the pitching is that much faster.

Basic rules are all the same, you can't throw the ball at a base runner to get them out, you can steal bases, you can strike out.

Often you will find that softball rules will vary slightly from league to league, so your best bet is to ask the team captain for a copy of the your league's "rules of play".

Rules are pretty much the same, usually only 7 innings in softball and also the ball is larger, a little softer and is thrown underhanded by pitcher to the batter. Dress code is a lot different in soft vs.baseball.

A softball is larger, the bases are shorter. Baseball is 9 innings softball is 7. Baseball is boys, softball is women. Baseball is greater usual, based on the averge amout of followers. Baseball fields are regularly longer than a softball container. The pitchers pitch distinctive. You bunt in yet in a distinctive way.

k first of all..the person below me is wrong...a baseball isnt harder...its just heavier basically...a softball is NOT soft..and stealing is different..theres no lead off's...you cant steal till the ball crosses the plate..pitcher obviously pitches differently and slower...the ball comes at a different angle..bigger gloves...lil things like that.

regional rules apply more in softball, such as whether or not they will call strikes, whether or not a foul ball counts as a third strike, etc. Pitching ball arc, speed, sometimes the pitcher is on your team, just so the game can move along.

Softball has bigger ball and softer. Hurts less if you get hit by it.
