the bottle should be a higher pressure than the low pressure side of the A/C system. So if you hook it up right, you should see that gauge pressure go down. If it goes down, you are either leaking or flowing. I think you'd be able to tell if it was leaking.

There are two sides to a refrigeration circuit the high and the low, identifying them by the low side as the largest pipe ( App 1/2 inch) and the high side ( app 1/4 inch) The charge must be applied as a vapor ( cylinder standing up) to the low side. Run the AC on full and the system should suck in the vapor. If it is loading you should see a increase in engine RPM. There is a possibility that there is air in your system and it can not take any more refrigerant. This will cause high temperature and excess load on the engine. If so dump the lot and have a refrigeration mechanic evacuate the system and start again. If loss of refrigerant is your problem check for leaks with liquid soap, mostly found on flex able connections between the compressor ( PUMP) and condenser ( RAD). On the recharge kit the hose connections have directional flow, make sure these are correct. IE There is a connection with a pin in the center, this is to open the opposing valve.

Add 1 can at a time , never exceede 50 psi , control this by they amount you are allowing to enter the hose. I thnk the cans have to be facing downward for the liquid to flow read and make sure that is how they want you to get that Freon in.

Low end is the Bigger tube will have the Bigger fiting on it.

No more then 3 cans for your car - use a temp gauge in the Center Vent so you can see the Temp. Without a high pressure gauge you are pushing it with the presures.

30 psi Low end / 250 psi High end is what you want with the AC magnet on. Low end psi drops as high psi increases, then the AC compresor shuts off and the High end goes up to 250 - 300 then off again alowing the flow of freon.

You have a leak i think and you should fix that 1st mate.

Good Luck
